This group hosts a number of opportunities for native habitat restoration at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park in collaboration with The City of Shoreline and Touchstone EcoServices. Goals of restoration projects include invasive species removal, native species re-vegetation, and slope stabilization. Restoration sites are replanted using native plant species typical of a coastal bluff ecosystem. Invasive species are removed using methods that avoid disturbance of steep slopes and reduce germination of the invasive species seed bank. Slope stabilization is achieved using bioengineering techniques. Each summer and fall, community volunteer events occur to continue invasive species removal in and around the restoration areas and install low-cost, high efficiency irrigation methods to ensure survival of native plantings.
